It pains me to post these because I didn’t have time to scan them and they’re a bit craptastic because of that, but here they are, anyway.

I think we can declare it official: Michael Fassbender is to Manly Cries as Sean Bean is to character deaths.

…………..how is there not a single picture of the two of them together??? D: And an interview with him about X-Men 2 has him telling the interview how they met up at the awards…
come on, photographers, do better! >:(
Also still getting the impression that these two really aren’t that close IRL. Saaadface.
Fassbender, Firth, Oldman, Cumberbatch, Freeman, AND McAvoy? Together in one movie? Thank god this isn’t real because I would just die. Like I would get to the theatre, get 5 mins into this movie, and BAM, just be dead. The combo is just too amazing.
#We decided that the only thing that would make this cast better is a random appearance by Joel Mchale #like he could play an extra or a guard or something who gets killed early on #but we need him there #because we need another behind-the-scenes thing from him like he did for SMA #except this time with all the above actors shirtless #and then one of them goes “and now the pants” #and they fight over who gets to take off Fassy’s #No surprise who wins #(It’s Freeman, DUH)

A friend and I were talking about our favorite actors (incl Cumberbatch, Fassy, JM, and OTHER JM), and realized that everyone talking about McFassy is crazy. Clearly the OT(RL)P is Fasshale!
Also look it must be true because I found TOTALLY LEGIT photographic and not-at-all-Photoshopped evidence!!!!
#probably should have watched some of those oscar-nommed movies so I could have a reason to not be on tumblr

is there any way to dl this?
Dear Michael Fassbender
Why must you be such a sex god?
(via maibeitsmayberlline)
My friend is in New York on business and totally bumped into Michael Fassbender on the street on her way home. SO JEALOUS >_<
The scene where Brandon hears his sister sing in the restaurant was shot in real time. James Badge Dale and Michael Fassbender had never heard Carey Mulligan sing before so their reactions were real. The scene was shot at 3 a.m in the morning with cameras focused on all 3 performers at the same time. X.
My favorite scene in the film. Brandon’s face is just…. it’s the whole movie, right there, in one expression.

THIS is the most brilliant amazing well-done fantastic cherik video I’ve ever seen!!!
The song doesn’t work for me but the clips sure do. Holy geez. It also highlights the similarity in Michael Fassbender’s and James McAvoy’s role choices.
JM: Faun in Narnia, MF: Goat-creature in music vid
JM and MF: soldiers in Band of Brothers
JM: Lefroy, an Englishman in the early 1800s, MF: Mr Rochester, an Englishman in the early 1800s
JM: “Filth“‘s main character, a misanthropic, sex-obsessed man, MF: “Shame”s main character, a sexaholic
And of course their mutant connection. I hope these two get to work on a film together outside of X-Men. And I hope it’s a love story
Fassbender might be more “famous” now, but McAvoy is still the better actor and always will be. His Charles Xavier deserves the spotlight in the sequel.
And I won’t watch it if it’s fucking Magneto-centric again.
…You’re kidding, right?
There’s a reason Fassbender is getting so much attention lately and it’s not just for his looks or the considerable size of his package. He’s a brilliant actor, every bit as good as McAvoy. This post just sounds like a butthurt McAvoy fan. I mean seriously, you won’t watch the sequel if it’s Magneto-centric? You know that a Magneto-centric movie will still have a ton of Charles scenes, right? If you’re a fan of XMFC and James McAvoy your logic on skipping the sequel doesn’t make much sense.
No, I’m not kidding. Do I have to accept that Fassbender is brilliant just because suddenly everybody seems to think he’s the most wonderful and talented actor ever? I don’t think so.
I watched four of his movies before First Class and he never caught my attention - unlike McAvoy, who just needed one scene and from that moment I couldn’t take my eyes off him. I’m not saying Fassbender a bad actor at all and he was just fine as Magneto, but to me he’s not as brilliant as James McAvoy. So I wonder if the fandom is going to force me now to agree with the notion that Fassbender is just as good - and, judging from many reviews I read, a better actor than James. No thanks.
And yeah, not interested in the sequel if it’s Magneto-centric. Not only because of Fassbender. I’m tired of the character, he’s turning out to be worse than Wolverine. “A lot of Charles” with no insight into his character or his issues when dealing with his paralysis and the betrayal of his best friends will mean nothing to me.
Thankfully, as a McAvoy fan, there will be plenty of great movies coming up this and next year to keep me satisfied. It’s not only about X-Men. If the writers and the director are not interested in Charles as an incredibly complex and interesting character I can only lament but there’s nothing I can do about it. Let them and the fanboys have all the Magneto they want.
I would love nothing more than a Charles-centric movie but it’s just way less likely. Actors have nothing to do with it. It’s because these are X-MEN movies. They’re about characters with powers, that is the entire crux of the universe. I would loooooove to see 2.5 hours dedicated to Charles coming to terms with the loss of his legs, his sister, his best friend/more, to see him have this incredible story arc where he gets bitter and angry only to come out on the right side in the end. But with only 2 movies left to tell these stories, dedicating a film to Charles’ troubles just isn’t possible. I’m quite sure they’ll address them in the sequel, but they can’t give that the majority of screentime. X-Men is action/fantasy, and when it comes to action, Magneto’s has always been clearer (and cheaper!) to display in terms of grandness.
In addition, between the two characters, I’d argue Magneto is easier to get to lead the plot because he’s an instigator. Charles is too, but on a lesser level. Mags is a terrorist so he’s always going out stirring stuff up for his cause, whereas Charles wants peace and quietly finds way of doing things (ie opening a school under the guise that it’s for smart kids). He jumps into action when he and his team need to save the day from Magneto or whoever the villain of the week is at the time.
Also Fassbender’s fame wouldn’t have that much to do with them making the movie about his character. If he had 20 minutes of screentime and Charles an hour, the Fassbender fans would still flock to see the movie because he was in it. That’s what it means to be famous. AND talented. He’s had some rough stuff (Eden Lake, that bear one, Hex) but if you’ve watched Shame and Hunger you’ll understand why he’s a big deal right now. Heck, I had never heard of him before XMFC and I started watching his movies BECAUSE of his performance in XMFC. I love me some James McAvoy but of the two in that film I think Fassbender’s performance wins by a hair.
Buttttt who am I kidding. One look at your tumblr tells me everything I say will fall on deaf ears. It’s unfortunate that actor bias can make someone so negative about a movie that hasn’t even gotten a rough draft or a title yet.
I’m not stupid and I know quite well that they won’t make an entire X-Men movie based on Charles leading with his paralysis. I’ve been following the X-Men from the first film and I know it’s an action/fantasy movie and there are limits to the extent of character development that is allowed in a film like this.
But the problem is the complete disinterest in Charles from Kinberg and even Vaughn when he gave interviews promoting First Class, all the while praising Magneto and Fassbender. It’s almost like James’ efforts and the wonderful insights and personality he gave Charles mean nothing at all when compared to the oh so amazing Fasbender and the almighty Magneto. It makes me sick. James is under obligation to do a sequel and if they want to keep Charles on the background because they want to jump the Fasswagon and make Magneto the “hero” of the sequel, they’ll do it. Kinberg interview is proof enough that they’re moving forward with the idea, and there’s a video of Fassbender talking about “a meeting” with Kinberg. His great friend McAvoy wasn’t present, of course, even though Fassbender tried to look all humble while doing publicity for his films, saying that he wanted the next film to “focus on Charles”. Oh please. I wonder if he insisted that that’s what they should do when he met with Kinberg.
I think there’s a huge amount of naivety from people who think that Fassbender only got this famous due his acting and hard work. He has talent but also a huge publicity machine behind him. Hollywood fame is not only based on talent - if that was the case, an actor like Gary Oldman would have his Oscar already, and another like Chris Plummer wouldn’t wait, I don’t know, sixty years to get his.
You can call me a butt-hurt fan all you want; I don’t care. I know damn well that James never had a publicity machine working for him. Also, he doesn’t have a house in LA and go to parties to hang with the likes of Clooney and Pitt. Things are considerably harder for him, because he doesn’t go around kissing Kinberg’s ass or whoever it is. He’s incredibly talented; of course if you think Fassbender is more talented it’s your prerogative and I won’t discuss it. I just wonder how many of McAvoy films you’ve seen, and if you really believe that Fassbender conquered Hollywood only because of his wondrous acting.
the Fassbender fans would still flock to see the movie because he was in it
Lol no. Look, I know at least 20 people who had never heard of Fassbender before X-Men. Some of them started liking him because of it, others were indifferent. The fans didn’t “flock” to see First Class because of him; they flocked because it’s X-Men, the oldest superhero franchise there is. I’m sorry, but this is a bit delusional. I’m also aware that the fans didn’t flock because of James, and James is a quite well-known actor who have already been nominated for a GG and was at the Oscar round table and almost got a nom years before Fassbender. Before you call me a rabid McAvoy fan look at yourself; a bit of reality check would be a good idea.
OMG You’re totally Loganbabe aren’t you? *sigh* What a pain.
People didn’t flock to XMFC cuz of Fassbender, don’t warp my words. I’m saying that his popularity means more people know who he is/fangirl him and those people will go see him in XMFC 2 regardless of how much or how little screentime he has. I would think that as a (rabid) fan of James McAvoy you would do the same.
I was a fan of James McAvoy years before I had ever heard of Fassbender, honey. But don’t use “how many films” as a proper way of measuring my appreciation of talent. I’ve seen far fewer films of Fassbender’s and yet I still think he’s brilliant. And I was feeling that way before Hollywood jumped on the Fassytrain.
I’m not sure what it is about Fassbender you hate so much (this is the very characteristic that leads me to believe you’re Loganbabe) but it’s a shame. I’m not asking you to adore or even like the guy, but why you’re so eager to paint him with the villain brush is beyond me… having good publicity isn’t a crime. It’s like you’re blaming him for XMFC2 being a crappy movie when 1) the direction of the movie is out of his hands and 2) NOTHING ABOUT THIS SEQUEL IS OFFICIAL YET, NOT EVEN A RELEASE YEAR.
Ughhhhhh and now I’m sick of talking to you. Again. Welp, I hope you enjoy driving yourself insane as you find more ways that the sequel will suck and more ways it will allllllll be because Michael Fassbender got a little bit too famous. :P
Huh…why, is it because only ONE person in the entire world would feel this way about Fassbender? Lol.
I guess you’ve never been to ONTD and saw the amount of people really mad about the abuse allegations there. Not everybody is head over heels about him; but I’m not going to debate his personal life here. Although, yeah, his image is quite tarnished to me.
I think you can’t measure talent if you haven’t seen enough of the actor’s work. McAvoy grabbed my attention the first time I saw him acting, but I only considered him a great actor after I saw the diversity in his work. And so far I haven’t seen the same diversity in Fassbender’s work.
And I was feeling that way before Hollywood jumped on the Fassytrain.
But I thought you said you only became a fan after seeing him in First Class, and that you’ve never seen a Fassbender film before…????
Okay, we’ll meet here in two years or so, when another Magneto movie is released. Hope you enjoy it, because I won’t. Not that you care, of course. I understand.
No, because of the level to which you seem to hate him with no particular reason other than “he’s not James McAvoy!!!!” and “he’s going to steal XMFC away from Charles!!!”. It’s not like the two are rivals or anything; they go for different movies and from what I understand they’re actually friends.
I wasn’t a Fassbender fan before XMFC because I didn’t know who he was, that’s right. But I thought he was amazing in FC and so I went back and watched a bunch of his other stuff. Hollywood didn’t jump on the Fassytrain until a the festival season began few months later in the fall, and when they did it wasn’t for his portrayal of Erik. It was all about “Shame”, and with good reason. You were saying James was the better actor for his awards. Wikipedia tells me that Michael won 16 awards at film fests for his role in Shame, and did get a GG nom for it. It was amazing and if you can put aside your vendetta against the guy for 2 hours it’s a film worth watching.

First Class co-producer Simon Kinberg is currently banging out the initial drafts of the script, which I’m sure will now see revisions on the part of Vaughn and his writing partner Jane Goldman.
No word on what exactly the direction of the new story is, but now that Vaughn is officially back in the fold I’m very much relieved.
Additionally, Bryan Singer is also on board to co-produce with series regular Lauren Shuler-Donner.
Expect more updates soon in terms of an official release date and the eventual casting.
