…and watched the deleted Charles/Moira scenes and one with Alex and Charles just because I couldn’t not.The others will remain unwatched till I get the bluray but yeah, on Moira/Charles…

Mixxxxxed feelings, y’all. On the one hand they have no chemistry and particularly their first scene where she shoots him down there is no attraction. On the other hand, they have their kiss (clearly the wine in the kitchen with Raven WAS meant for Moira afterall, unfortunate) which is pretty steamy but so blaringly out of place and I daresay a little awkward, like neither of them have the heart to do it. I don’t know. I DID like the hilarious awkward encounter with Erik in the hallway though, and the fact that after Charles gets cockblocked by Moira he rushes out to stop Erik from leaving.

Erik and Charles also both make out (and in Charles case, perhaps more) with women after their argument over chess. If you wanted to reeeeeally delve into it and probably overthink it, you might say that this was not just moments of solidarity between these two pairs but the men working out their UST and frustrations over each other without actually confronting each other. Or trying to hurt each other. Or it could be two guys trying to get laid as socially acceptably as possible for that timeframe right before they go off to a battle they might not make it back from.

Someone else has pointed out that Charles “tries too hard to be straight” in these scenes. I’ve never thought of Charles as gay, to me he’s always been a straight man who broke his rules for Erik and Erik alone. I couuuld potentially see him as bi as well. I think the post I read may have been reading into things about Charles’ sexuality a little too hard, but I will say that I thought the scene with Alex where Charles sets up the nude female model and gazes at it appreciatively as Alex stands there was a bit over the top.

BUT the deleted scenes DID give us Dragneto. And they are DELETED scenes, things the director decided to take out. And even with the scenes in, Moira and Charles have no chemistry compared to Erik and Charles, and Cherik goggles aside, there is nothing in these scenes to indicate to me that Charles cares for Moira the way he cares for Erik. Those two are still canon to me. I haven’t seen anything on tumblr to indicate that pair have anything more than Dragneto in terms of scenes together which is a real shame (I truly was hoping we’d get something more obvious about their UST). But maybe they’re just saving that for angsty scenes together in the sequel. Please have a sequel, and please have angsty UST Charles/Erik scenes in it!!
